This was a bargain audiophile amp in its day. A measly $1,600 back then gets you this solidly made, 200W per channel powerhouse that would have driven any speakers back then and now. It has a very “meaty” sound with a good dose of dynamic power. Many users have commonly equate it with Goldmund amps that cost many times more and we couldn’t disagree. At way under $1,000 now, this amp will squash the likes of other more common household names like NAD, Rotel, Sony etc for the same amount of money. You can hear the amp’s copious amount of power in reservation just waiting to burst out. If we had to choose an amp in the sub-$1,000 category and the PMF-2150b was one of the offering, we would jump on this without batting an eyelid. Its $1,600 price tag when new was a ridiculous bargain in its day!
Cosmetically, the unit is in pretty nice shape for its age. Some scuff marks here and there but nothing major. It had only one owner from NEW and the QC test label when it left its factory in New Zealand is still tied to its AC cord on the back. Amp will be securely packed for safe shipping.
