The Phono Drive is not exactly a “pure” phono only preamp as it also acts as a one line input preamp for your CD player or other source unit. So the unit has two circuit boards inside – one for the phono stage and one for the line level input. There is a volume and balance control on the front which is utilize when using the line level input. If it is just the phono section, you use the other two controls on the left where you select between MM or MC cartridges and a range of input impedance which you can select from 10 to 1000 ohms when using a MC cartridge. For the money, this is a very well designed phono preamp. With a good cartridge, the Phono Drive was able to extract out lots of details, had a good upper and lower extension and pretty silky smooth mids. It was also more refine sounding than the usual phono stage found in your integrated amp or preamp. This is a phono stage that will pair well to a turntable setup that cost between $1,500-$5,000. If you want something that offers even more refinement and darker backgrounds, we also have the Parasound JC 3+ phono stage for sale.
Unit has very minor scuff marks here and there but nothing major. It will be securely packed prior to shipping.
