The MX121 was the “entry” ticket to McIntosh’s range of AV Control Centers. But like its other more expensive lineup, the MX121 has the same unmistakable warm, clean and punchy sound. If you need more features like 4K Ultra HD support, than you would need to go for the $14,000 MX160. But if you are looking for a control center that will meet 95% of today’s audio and video processing, the MX121 is more than sufficient to do all of them. Add its room correction function and the MX121 can easily transform your dedicated audio/video room into a first class setup. The unit comes complete with everything that it came with from the factory – Audyssey mic and stands, remote, manual and original double boxes.
Cosmetically, the unit looks really good. Minor scuff marks on the side panels but nothing major. The MX121 is a great all rounder. It has the sonic finesse of our favorite C2300 tube preamp and yet offers the flexibility of an AV processor for a top class movie theater setup.
