We have had several passive preamps come through our doors but we were totally unprepared when we listen to this Lightspeed Attenuator. We had assume it would have sounded just like our other resident sub-$1,000 passive preamps but the Lightspeed was different. It was uncolored, neutral and transparent. Just like our other passive preamps but with one major difference – its clarity and dynamism was steps above what we have in the store. The soundstage was more “vibrant” and the music more pulsating. It was just an incredible piece considering how “small” and how simply engineered (click on the link in the listing to read more) it was. If you only have a single source in your system, this is a benchmark piece when it comes to sub-$1,000 or even sun-$2,000 passive preamps.
Cosmetically, the unit looks good. Some scuff marks here and there but nothing major. Wall wart power supply is a 120V unit but you could easily get another that is 230V to power it if you live in a 230V region. Just ensure the pin will fit and that the output voltage is 12V. Unit will be securely packed for safe shipping.
