When a pair of speakers crosses the threshold of $10,000, expectations rise exponentially too. And the Ceramique 3.1 does not disappoint. In fact, it is a $10,000 speaker without the optional SDSS (Spike Disc Suspension System) which is an additional $2,000 outlay. For $10,000, you get a 2-way speaker in a floorstanding configuration and exquisite built quality. On paper, this doesn’t look aggressively “packed” with features as compared to say, the Wilson Sophia speakers ($12,000) but when you sit down and listen to these speakers, you will probably consider them a real bargain at $10,000. They have better transparency (in our opinion over the Sophia’s) and a smoother mid-range. Bass is not as bass heavy but was substantial enough to pack a punch when the musical track demanded it. The blending and balance was so refined, music had a surreal presence when we were listening to them in our mid-size room. In larger rooms, it may struggle to fill the front stage but medium sized rooms were almost perfect.
Cosmetically, the unit looks really good. Minor scuff marks from use with some paint touch up on the edges around the drivers on one speakers. They are not noticeable when the grille cover is affixed. We do not have the original boxes but will build new boxes around them and shipped strapped on to a pallet for safe arrival. Manual and SDSS included. Flat rate of $250 will be the cost of shipping to anywhere in the lower 48 states. All other places/countries, please check with us for a shipping quote.
