For a monitor speaker, the Contour 1.3 MKII is an incredibly powerful sounding speaker. It may just be 8″ wide, 11.5″ deep and 15″ tall, but its 1″ soft dome tweeter and 6.7″ magnesium silicate polymer woofer has a frequency response that extends from 40Hz to 24KHz. And that was clearly projected in our listening room. The bass response could easily fooled someone into thinking it came from a mid-size floorstander and the rich mids and smooth highs all culminate into this large scale soundstage that belies its modest physical size. Pitch them above sturdy speaker stands and in the right size room, the Dynaudio can be as impressive as any similarly priced floorstanders. Built and finish is second to none by the 20lbs each speaker weighs. Speakers do demand a fair bit of power especially in the medium sized room. Nominal impedance is around 4 ohms with a sensitivity of 86dB. Recommended power is 65W per channel or more to really get the speakers rocking.
Cosmetically, the speakers look really good. Minor scuff marks and nicks here and there that are common with use but nothing major. One speaker has a tiny dimple on the soft dome but it has no impact on sound. Speakers will be securely packed for safe shipping.
