This is a classic solid state power amp. Built (or rather, an upgraded Val Alstine amp) by Van Alstine for Dynaco, it has all the features that are found in amps costing many times more. It has wooden side panels, blue meters (ala McIntosh but as a dB meter) and gobbles of power (125W per channel). We had this drive a pair of Acoustat 1+1 speakers with great result. Bass was tight and thunderous with a transparent mid and highs. For under $400, you would be scouring amps from the likes of Adcom, Rotel and NAD (just to name a few) but they don’t share the same “tight” delivery as the Dynaco. Add the captivating blue meter display and it becomes clear who is the all rounded winner here for both sight and sound.
Cosmetically, the poweramp is in great shape. Minor scuff marks from use but nothing major. For its vintage, this is in excellent shape. We don’t have the original box but will securely pack this for safe shipping. We know how to pack amps with glass faceplates and this will be pack likewise where it will arrive safely to you.
