If you had to spend $1,500 today on a CD player, you might end up looking at brands like Rega, Creek, Marantz etc. They probably won’t sound any better and definitely not as overbuilt as the Denon. The Denon is killer machine. Big, almost brutish looking with the “muscle” (weighs close to 45lbs) to match. The transparency, linearity of sound was easily apparent when you start playing a CD through it. Kick drums was tight and fast and the soundstage was very well presented and controlled. Compared to players from Rega and Creek, the Denon was the more well mannered player. The Rega and Creek do sound good but when auditioned side by side with the Denon, they show their “weakness.” Most of the major control functions are found the faceplate and the minor, less used ones are found behind the flip cover.
If this Denon is still being sold now at $1,500, it will probably be the best built $1,500 CD player. Look at the players from Creek, Rega, Marantz and see if you disagree with us on who is the better built machine. At under $500 now, its like buying a Bentley at Toyota’s prices.
Condition of the unit is good. Some minor scuff marks here and there but nothing major. Original remote included. We don’t have the original box but will securely pack it for safe shipping.
