The Ikon 2 is the monitor speaker version of the widely popular and award winning Ikon series of speakers. From its cosmetics to its sound, it boasts of quality. Well built and the use of high quality materials ensured a breathtaking sound from a monitor speaker that was fairly pricey at $1150. Add a good sturdy stand and you are now looking at a $1,500 bracket where the speaker will be competing with floorstanders, like their very own Ikon 6. Is this than a good value proposition? We personally find that tough to justify but at under $600 now, that changes the ball game. Its mid-range/bass was stupendous for a speaker this size. It definitely needs a sturdy stand to wring out the tightness in its bass. Once you have that in play, add its sweet ribbon/dome tweeter combo and you would get a musical scale that is very impressive for a monitor speaker. Imaging was a bit more intimate than the Ikon 6 but when you want a large scale orchestra music, the Ikon 6 trumps. So depending on what you need, your room size and kind of music you like, both the Ikon 2 and 6 will do it with aplomb.
Cosmetic condition is pretty good. Minor scuff marks here and there and small dings around the edges. Nothing major and very common with a used pair of speakers. 2 pairs of speaker binding posts in the rear allows for bi-wiring/bi-amping if you want to improve the sound a little. Grille covers are good with no tears or snags. We don’t have the original boxes but will securely pack them for safe shipping.
