This is the more “affordable” CD/DVD player in a series that includes the CDP-202 ($7,000 MSRP). The main difference between the two is the CDP-102 uses a single Cirrus Logic CS4398 24 Bit/ 192 KHz chip while the CDP-202 uses three Burr Brown PCM1792 chips in the DAC section. Physically, they look identical and have the same top notch built quality. Sonically, the CDP-102 is a smashingly good sounding CD player with a highly respectable video playback quality from its DVD section. The CDP-202 has a slight edge with a bit more detail retrieval and definition but not much. Its an easy best buy with its sonic qualities and top rate built quality. Plus, it has a totally brand new laser assembly that was installed by Classe’s service center in NYC. If you had to do this yourself, it would have cost you close to $700. But we have taken that liberty so you will be receiving a unit that will last for many more years to come.
Cosmetically, the unit is in nice shape. Some minor scuff marks but nothing major. Remote is included and the manual can be obtained online. Unit will be securely packed for safe shipping.
