The MKII version of the VT100 is a model that was improved upon over the very successful original VT100. It is still 100W per channel but with a beefier power supply over the original VT100, the MKII has a slightly more anchored soundstage and presence. Depth was impressive with very good imaging when listening to vocals. Bass was tight and had tremendous bass slam that you would have thought came from larger, higher power output tube amps. Like the original VT100 and the MKIII (we have sold all three models before), the VT100 series of amps are one of our all time favorites. Pick any of the three models and it is highly unlikely you will be disappointed.
This amp was recently sent back to Audio Research’s service center in New York City for a full service. Worn out parts were replaced, new Sovtek 6550 tubes installed and the caps were replaced. All this to the tune of $1,700. It was worth every penny.
Cosmetically, the amp looks really good. Some minor scuff marks here and there but nothing major. We don’t have the original box but will securely pack this for safe shipping.
